About skin conditions
Apart from cosmetic concerns, skin conditions can be itchy, uncomfortable and sometimes painful. They may also be associated with, or a sign of, another condition (i.e. psoriatic arthritis). The skin is our largest organ, yet it is the one we tend to ignore and take for granted until it causes us problems!
How we can help
If you have a troubling skin rash, eczema, acne or other skin condition, we can help. From diagnosis to treatment, I’ve got you covered. Embarrassed by acne? Feeling as though you must wear long sleeved shirts to cover the annoying and persistent rash on your arms? Dislike shaking hands due to severe eczema? You’ve come to the right place! We understand that skin conditions affect how you feel about yourself and even how you interact with others, and we want you to like what you see when you look in the mirror.
What you can expect
When you come in to see us about your skin condition, we will ask about your health history, including any family history of skin conditions. We will ask about any medications you are taking. We will also want to know what you have used in the past to treat your condition, whether prescription or over-the-counter. We will then examine the affected skin.
Advanced Primary Care is a full service medical center, which means that we can order tests if necessary. For example, if we suspect that your skin condition is caused by an autoimmune problem, we can order blood tests to help us make our diagnosis. Many people think that they need to see a dermatologist for their skin condition, but this is rarely the case. As an internal medicine physician, we are equipped to handle most skin conditions; however, if it becomes necessary we can also refer you to a dermatologist if your condition is one requiring specialized care.
Types of skin conditions we treat
We see patients with the following conditions:
- allergic reactions
- bacterial skin infections
- skin tag removal
- toe fungus treatment
- nail infections
These are some of the more common conditions we see. There are many more- chances are that I’ve seen and treated your particular skin issue, so there’s no reason to feel embarrassed or shy about your skin problem. Curing your condition starts with making an appointment. What are you waiting for? Make an appointment today- your skin will thank you!
